Seacoast Food Allergy Group: Local Child Going to FAAN Kid's Congress

Andrea Schmidt, a 5th grader with food allergies, will be going to Washington DC as a FAAN junior ambassador to ask congress to pass food allergy legislation and fund food allergy research.

Andrea's mom, Cathy, is a long time member of the Seacoast Food Allergy Group. Way to go Andrea! We're proud of you.

SCFAG History

The Seacoast Food Allergy Group was started by Melissa Bouzianis in 1998. Faced with placing her severely food allergic son in the care of teachers in kindergarten, she founded the group to meet others dealing with the same issues. At the time, very few resources were readily available to parents of food allergic children.

The meetings provided an invaluable source of support, resources and strength for many families coping with food allergies. The group expanded to provide community awareness, training to school nurses and food service staff, and advocacy for food allergy issues throughout the greater seacoast area.
